Continuing Education Partners
NAHB Education seeks to engage with relevant industry partners to supplement continuing education opportunities for designees and to broaden the reach of NAHB’s curriculum. NAHB has partnered with the following organizations as either a provider or to offer some form of reciprocity for continuing education hours.
The Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) and Certified Green Professional™ (CGP) programs are recognized by the American Council of Construction Education, the accreditation organization for universities and colleges with construction management programs.
The National Association of Home Builders is a registered provider of AIA-approved continuing education under Provider Number G533. These learning programs are registered with AIA CES for continuing professional education. As such, it does not include content that may be deemed or construed to be an approval or endorsement by the AIA of any material of construction or any method or manner of handling, using, distributing, or dealing in any material or product. AIA continuing education credit has been reviewed and approved by AIA CES. Learners must complete the entire learning program to receive continuing education credit. AIA continuing education Learning Units earned upon completion of this course will be reported to AIA CES for AIA members. Certificates of Completion for both AIA members and non-AIA members are available upon request.

AIBD. All face-to-face and online education provided by NAHB is approved by the American Institute of Building Design (AIBD) for continuing education units. Members of the Institute seeking credit must self-report by submitting a form and providing verification of attendance or completion. Credit is awarded as 1.0 CE unit per contact hour.
NAHB is an Approved Provider with the American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc. The assignment of AOTA CEUs does not imply endorsement of specific course content, products, or clinical procedures by AOTA or indicate AOTA approval of a certification or other professional recognition. Licensees that want to offer these credits must inform NAHB at the same time the course is scheduled.
The following courses are approved for AOTA CEUs:
- Design Concepts for Livable Homes and Aging in Place (CAPS II) — 0.6 CEUs
- Details and Solutions for Livable Homes and Aging in Place (CAPS III) — 0.6 CEUs
- Marketing and Communicating with the Aging in Place Client (CAPS I) — 0.6 CEUs
- Universal Design Essentials — 0.6 CEUs
NOTE: As of Jan. 6, 2021, virtual offerings of these courses are approved for CEU credit.
NAHB Courses Approved for State Contractor Licenses
NAHB designation courses are not automatically approved by state licensing boards for contractor CE. Courses must be submitted by state or local associations for approval.
Some local or state home builder associations have submitted courses for approval to help meet residential contractor state licensing requirements. Below are the states and courses that have been submitted and approved for continuing education credits for contractor licenses by a local HBA. NAHB is happy to provide course content and information for any state or local HBA that wishes to submit courses for approval for any state licensing board.
Georgia
NAHB’s courses qualify under the Rules of the Georgia State Licensing Board for Residential and General Contractors for continuing education credit hours. It is important to note that online courses (including virtual and webinars) can only count for 50% of your total hours.
Louisiana
The Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors has approved all of NAHB’s courses for CE, including the online courses.
Michigan
NAHB’s courses have been approved by the state for Continuing Competency.
